The former Free Church of Scotland and Manse at
Craigton of Monikie, Angus
These photographs show the Manse of, the formerly adjacent, Free
Church of Scotland, at Craigton of Monikie (maps).
(A Manse is the Scottish term used to describe the house
occupied by the serving Minister of the Church.)
Adjacent, to the south of the Manse was the Free
Church of Scotland at Craigton, now demolished.
. . but this former Manse has now become the Craigton
From a list of memorial inscriptions on grave-markers in
Monikie Kirkyard there follows the family of Rev. Malcolm McIntyre, the
longest serving minister of this church, and family members. You can read more

In August 2006 the
Webmaster has been contact by a lady in Australia who has a box containing many
papers relating to JOHN McINTYRE, the 'son of the manse'.
She tells me of one, John McIntyre, who left Monikie in 1872, at the age of 20, to sail to Australia on the Star of Peace.
It is hoped that Angus Council Archives department can arrange for the return of
this collection for display at the Restenneth Archive Centre.
As at the date below this has failed to materialise.
