The hall is situated at the junction of the B961 to Brechin, and the road to Monikie Village and Monikie Country Park. (Look at map). The hall was erected for the use of the community, to the memory of the War Dead - a plaque to that effect can be seen just inside the front door. The hall and its environs have had much work and expenditure in recent months and more is planned - funds are always required to further the aims of this facility.
The hall is available to let for various purposes, including Dances, Discos, Sporting uses, Karaoke Nights, Wedding and similar Receptions, etc. There is a large kitchen available for use, if required. Tables and chairs are also available, if required. If you do not require use of the large hall (size approximately 80 feet by 40 feet) perhaps the "Board Room" would meet your needs. It is approximately 20 feet by 20 feet and has a supply of tables and chairs to meet various uses.
The 'board room' may be rented by businesses and others wishing to enjoy a peaceful day in the country, away from telephones and other distractions (excepting the spectacular panoramic view of the Firth of Tay, the North Sea, St. Andrews and Fife, and even the hills of Lothian, from it's south-facing window).
A traditional, red public telephone kiosk is situated OUTSIDE the
hall if you really MUST keep in touch . . (leave your mobile at home!) . . and plenty car parking
space is available. There is a large, flat, grassed area which
could accommodate commercial marquees, display trailers, etc.
The premises are regularly used by several local organisations, for example, the Men's Club. Squash, Carpet bowls equipment is available. Pantomimes and shows also use the hall facilities. It may also be available for "artistic" rehearsals, etc. and, again, provides an ideal venue away from the "city" and possible complaints about 'noisy neighbours'.
The hall can be 'held in reserve' for organisers of outdoor fetes and functions at the adjacent Monikie Country Park for use during inclement weather.
